Most business people will be comfortable with the term 'ROI' as it is a commonly used expression and when we are listening to proposals from potential suppliers we want to hear them say that a return on investment will be delivered. For those of us who employ people in our businesses then we are of course always looking for a return on our investment in them and even more so in the current climate.
For me the key word in that statement however is CHANGE. It is the return on change investment (ROCI) that is the key difference here because it's about getting people to think differently and changing the way things are done in order to get better results for themselves in business. It is about sustainable change that takes place as a result of coaching or training; change that endures because it is driven by new beliefs and a new way of thinking.
The old adage "People are our greatest strength and we are our own greatest asset" keeps being said because it is true. Our competitors can copy our technology, but they can't copy our people and they certainly can't copy our individuality. And people allowed to play to their strengths are an awesome force.
In a relationship age we need to get better at engagement with others. First we must re-engage with ourselves; work on our own personal congruency so we know who we are and what we want for ourselves and our businesses.
The greatest challenge any of us will ever face is in coming to understand ourselves. Your system (mind and body) is the most complex piece of equipment you'll ever have to manage. Master that and your job is done.
